Entering the 2017-18 season, Assistant Coach Marcus Parsons returns to the Razorbacks for his second season as a coach and fifth overall. Coach Parsons is an Arkansas native who grew up in Northwest Arkansas and learned to skate on the rink the Razorbacks call home. Coach Parsons was a goaltender for twelve years before joining the team in 2008. During his three year playing career, which included back to back SECHC titles (2010, 2011), the Razorbacks never lost a game he started.
Coach Parsons has a passion for helping goalies reach their maximum potential. He believes everything starts and stops with the goalie; building young men into solid goaltenders lays the foundation for them and their team to have success. His holistic approach to training goaltenders focuses on the physical, mental, and emotional facets of the position. All three aspects, his philosophy stresses, play a vital role in stopping pucks and putting a team in a situation to win every game.
Outside of hockey, Coach Parsons is a technologist, accountant and farmer. He lives on a farm in Springdale with his wife, Molly. He is a licensed CPA in the state of Arkansas and holds a B.S. (’12) and M.Acc. (’13) from the University of Arkansas.
